Just wondering if anyone knows a bit more about the cultural background to this coin. My daughter's partner presented me with it the other day. It's 75/25 Cuprinol-nickel, is 26.5mm wide, has a serrated rather than reeder edge, and weighs 8 grammes. The packaging says "UMA MOEDA CONTRA A INDIFERENCA".

Any clues, anyone?

It is a non-circulating Commemorative coin with a mintage of 49,800 (in Blister Pack), It is in BU condition as issued in that pack. KM# 828 Issued in Portugal

Many thanks, Dearborn. I'm very pleasantly surprised at the low actual mintage!

And that even though they only specified a striking limit of 300,000 the number turned out was so low. And so few people bought one. I'm amazed at the irony!
