I've been trying to become a novice student (kindergarten level) of 8 Pillars. I found this on my FB groups newsfeed being offered for sale. I edited out extraneous background.

I found some problems just by examining the photo. Not sure if I'm correct. On the reverse, the 1/3 of lower right shows some pitting - are the signs of previous corrosion? Can you share your observations?

This may be a cast fake. Ask for the weight.

I agree with collector.detector ... seems like a casting condition, as the small "?bubbling?" of the surface is raised, rather than being pitted from corrosive deterioration ... BTW, fireandice556, I have a small collection of counterfeits also, mostly contemporary, with a few modern as well ... gonna post one here in a few minutes ...

Late 1740s-early 1750s Mexico pillar coinage (all denoms) is notorious for the excessive die rust presenting as it does here.
