Hi everyone, I thought you might like to see this, I think it was well after the time when flushing public toilets were introduced here in1852 by George Jennings a plumber from Brighton in the UK, and we had to spend a penny to use them. Someone (I don't know who) brought out these little purses for a "Just in Case" emergency, I think they were a brilliant idea for the time.  |

the penny that was in it had indeed gathered a bit of verdigris, so swapped it for a clean one.

You should put the original back in - no sense in ruining another coin. Plus the verdigris is part of the story now.

In a similar vein, there are some official penny sized tokens to operate the locks, presumably for use by the cleaners.  |
