Keeping it in the holder will be an additional motivation for the PCGS grader to keep the currently assigned grade. So, I guess it depends on what you want to accomplish: If you are concerned that it may grade lower- keep it in the holder If you are looking for a higher grade- take it out. I actually agree with the current grade and would expect the same.

Thanks you both for your help! Quote: Keeping it in the holder will be an additional motivation for the PCGS grader to keep the currently assigned grade I never tried to crossover so I have no first hand experience. I read PCGS graders might implicitly lean towards downgrading so this sparked the doubt on whether to submit raw or not. Obviously a higher grade would be welcome but at the same time it was not my primary concern. Submitting raw was more to make sure the crossover is not bias. I can live with an MS62 in PCGS holder but at the same time it would drive me nuts imagining it was downgraded just because I put on the form something lower than MS63 to make sure it crossovers (which is paramount for me since I want the coin in a PCGS holder). Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Hello everyone! Good news today! I ended up following your advice and did a crossover without specifying a lower minimum grade (and without cracking it out), so it was either a MS63 or nothing. Just got word from PCGS that the crossover was successful! Thanks all

Just curious, why did you want it in a PCGS holder?

Quote: Just curious, why did you want it in a PCGS holder? It's mainly because I dislike the NGC holders with a passion and have all my coins in PCGS ones. Then.. if I want to find more reasons: I trust a PCGS grade more than an NGC one, I believe it demands a larger premium all other things being equal, the pics taken are better, etc.

Ok, I have something like 200+ slabs. Only 2 are NGC The rest are PCGS, and a couple some Canadian guy gave me, that really aren't slabs at all.

My complete graded IKE set is PCGS, although I have four extras that are NGC. I do like the PCGS holders more.
