WOW. That was an interesting read. Sounds like most of them could be sold or in circulation by now. Am I a criminal now?

Police charge man over alleged $600,000 theft of Bluey coins.
I did not have a crime of that type on my bingo card.

The numbers in the theft aren't adding up for me.

Says $600,000 value stolen
also 6400 coins

so that figures to $93.75 per coin yet the article states they are $1 dollar bucks selling for 10 times the value online or around $10.00

I see them selling in the US for around $18 to $20 USD but S&H charges from Australia are outrageous now around $25 to 40 per lot.

The above is only for the business strikes not the proof sets or colorized proofs.

I think they are neat looking and great for improving kids interest in the hobby, much like our US State Quarter program was. I don't have kids and was not familiar with Bluey, but took the "How well do you know Bluey" quiz on the news site page. I scored zero out of 15 - I couldn't even guess right!

Too bad they seem to have done the Taylor Swift ticket way of sales. The forum comments on the news site state a lot of bots are getting The Royal Mint coins but not the collectors or parents trying to purchase them. Where have I heard that before in selling mint products?

Police have valued the coins @ $10 each from ebay sales.
63,000 were stolen so police say $600,000 value,
Really only $63,000 was stolen.

2024 $1 Bluey balloon
2024 $1 Bluey Bingo

My local post office told me this morning that only 2 of the coins from the tube are available thru the till from Monday.
Previously the post office said to me that all 10 coins were coming out thru the till like the Aussie Big Things promotion but that information was incorrect.

The coins have been released and people have gone nuts over them. My feeling is that they are grossly overpriced like the AFL coins. However some people think otherwise. I wonder what the next 'junk' theme will be. Popcorn at the ready.

Thought I would try to reserve a couple of tubes at local Australia Post shop on Friday ahead of the Monday release, because I would only be able to get to the Post Office around 4pm on Monday.
Filled out a form and felt quite smug about my devious plan.
Arrived on Monday afternoon as was told they had been sold
Went home and ordered them from online shop and have to pay postage now.
Had a look at website now and every single Bluey coin is 'SOLD OUT'.
