" The half dollar is nice, too, but I generally stick to the silver dollars. " I Too Agree, The Uncirculated Silver Dollar Design is One of The More Finely Detailed, Modern Commemorative Examples, I have seen in a Very Long While....... Awesome Designed, Highly Deserving of the Military Members of Days Gone Bye..... Actually a Remarkable Looking Coin Design.!!!!!

In 2019, the prices for the silver dollars were $51.95 and $54.95 for uncirculated and proof, respectively. The half dollars were $25.95 and $27.95. In five years, the dollars have increased 48%-49%, and the half dollars a whopping 81%. For added context, the prices for the 2024 clad half dollars are approximately what the uncirculated silver dollars sold for in 2018, $48.95.

Why is there so much mark-up on gold coins? You'd think that it would be the cost of the metal + a similar mark-up fee regardless of the metal type.
For instance, the Liberty & Britannia Gold Coin is $1018 more than the price of 1oz of gold. ($3020 and $2002 at the time.)

I plan to get one/both of the dollar coins. I love the design of the half dollar, but no way I'm going to pay almost $50 for a clad half! Why do they have to gouge us so badly? If they offered the two-coin set as before, that may be more palatable. Pretty sure I'm not going to spring for the three-coin set.

The gold coin is only 90% gold and 0.243 troy oz. For comparison, the American Gold Eagle is 0.250 troy oz and 91.67% gold. I see the Tubman coin is also 90% and 0.243 troy oz.

I suppose it is a good thing the gold is outside my area of concentration.

Order placed at 12:04 for one uncirculated half dollar and one uncirculated silver dollar. Had to experience the waiting room for a couple minutes before noon. Interestingly, the individual product pages say an "expected shipping date" of April 5, but in the cart it says the "expected in-stock date is" June 6.

Waiting room let me in at 9:00 on the dot. Ordered one each of the Dollars; decided to skip the Half Dollars. USM indicates these will ship from Philly mint in early June.

I was thinking about it and will probably pick up one of the unc dollars. I wanted the half but that price is sooo steep! Wrong time to pick up the set but I do like it.

I placed my order yesterday for a proof silver dollar and half dollar. No issues, in and out. I might add the uncirculated ones later if the mood hits me, but I got what I wanted. Gold was a nonstarter for me, even though the three coin set sent me a siren song.
