Let's continue a CCF tradition with a thread looking back a hundred years! By 1922, things were getting back to normal in many countries after WW1. But Germany was experiencing severe economic problems that would lead to hyper-inflation. In the USA, the low-relief Peace dollar entered circulation and no cents were made in Philadelphia. I'll start the ball rolling with a few British coins. The Royal Mint was still experimenting with different alloys for their higher value coins. Most UK 50% silver coins from 1922 went rather yellowish after a period in circulation, like this florin: 1922 was also the year of a groovy kind of half-crown. There are two distinct varieties, one with the crown on the reverse touching the shield, and the other with a groove between the crown and the shield: Groovy, man... 'Everything today is thoroughly modern Bands are getting jazzier Everything today is starting to go Cars are getting snazzier Men say it's criminal what women'll do What they're forgetting is, this is 1922!' (Thoroughly Modern Millie, lyrics by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn)

Quote: I have others, but am too lazy to post them. No problem. I have at least three and I am not really motivated to get them photographed. Nice examples though!

A complement to your coin, @NumisRob! 1922 France, 1 franc Chambre de Commerce. After WW1 the value of the French franc had sank to the extent that the melt value of the silver franc coins exceeded the nominal value considerably and they were pulled out of circulation and into peoples' drawers. That lead to a general shortage of lower denominations, which was initially remedied with various sorts of local notgeld. In 1920 the government commissioned the chambers of commerce to mint tokens with the values 50 centimes, 1 franc and 2 francs, in bronze aluminum. The coins were marked "BR.AL." to ensure people that there was nothing more valuable in them. The reason for letting the chambers of commerce do the minting instead of the government itself, could be because the state did not want to breach the binding gold-silver convention of the Latin Monetary Union, which was still formally - though not practically - in effect (the French government minted silver coins in accordance with the convention until 1920, although in diminishing quantities).
