I was on ebay and I found some people sell old roman

coin,denarius.

and I saw a coin and I just bought it.

I didn't know much about ancient coin, but I just love history and

I wanted to have one. So I just got it without thinking.

But after I googled for a while, I found out there are a few way

to check if it's fake or not.

So in picture, there are many pearls(?). I saw that kind of pearls or

bubbles can be evidence of fake coin.

If you guys share opinion with me, I would appreciate it.

I really regret buying ancient coin without proper knowledge,

I learned my lesson.

So...do you guys think it's fake?

and this is my first posting. sorry for my english also,

I am from south korea , we don't have this kind of community

so I came here to find some help and opinions.

If someone shares some knowledge or opinion, I'll be very glad.

Hi Roopoo
Your English is better than my Hangul. No need to apologize for writing in English.

What to do:
Please check this link to see if your seller is on the known fake seller list:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/b...opic=18502.0

Please see if your coin appears here:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/

If the coin is fake, you can return it and get a refund.
You can buy from a verified seller who guarantees here:
https://www.vcoins.com/en/Default.aspx

Do not give up. The coin shown in my profile is the reverse of a Pius denarius. He was the nicest emperor Rome had, and his coins are relatively cheap and common.

Well with the red background it was easy enough to find the original listing. If anyone is curious etc.

Too many red flags for me on this one, casting bubbles, weak looking fonts, metal looks more like lead than silver.

Actually the seller is in the Top Rated Plus Program, so to get the 10% off his fees each month ebay controls the return process. So this person must accept returns even if you did not like the coin because you suddenly hate the emperor. Trust me, I am in the program as well and ebay writes notes to me and says by the way we accepted a return for you and will pay the guy back from your funds once we see it made it back to your house etc. See below:

Return policy
After receiving the item, contact seller within - 30 days
Refund will be given as - Money Back
Return shipping - Seller pays for return shipping

Patience is the key when collecting. I think you could have gotten a higher grade coin at a lower price. Not sure on the authenticity on this particular coin, but from what I can tell his coins are genuine.

Travelcoin;

And we probably return the the long past discussion threads about eastern Europe and all the Denarius coins of this quality we find coming from there. Our ambiguity as a board as to all of them.

thanks for all your replies. people in here are really nice

Yes, I think I was impatient for buying this. but for now, I will just get this and check coin closer first.

even if it's fake I could just have it as reminder to be patient when I buy ancient coin... and it didn't cost big money so

I will just get this and study about this particular coin more and get to know about over all coin, I wish.

thank you all people shared some opinions. I will read good posts from here and try to learn more about coin collecting. thanks again

So true.
rollypoo - no worries, my first coin was a Hadrian bought from Bulgaria. Over payed and a possible fake' Luckily I returned it immediately and got a refund.
Second coin was a Crispus that I again payed too much, but a trusted seller and definitely genuine.
