Hey all,

I've been enjoying the marvelous posts by Commems, nickelsearcher, Worn Out, and Not Mint to Be about the classic commemorative series and how challenging it is to find them in lower grades.

As a history buff, I was thrilled to spot this 1918 Illinois half on ebay last week. Alas, I was outbid, but I still wanted to post this here and see what all of you would think about the grade.

It's difficult to evaluate from pictures, but I was thinking G-04. Also, the seller thought it was cleaned, but I didn't really see that.

Hoping to hear from the experts on here so I can be ready to go for the next one that shows up!

(also I hope that this one went to another CCF member!)

Id say it's very close to G-04. Most unusual!

I see a G-4 obverse and a G-6 reverse - net G-4.

nickelsearcher and/or Not Mint To Be are the experts here, however. Hopefully one or the other will see your post and offer up an opinion!

The two circular spots on the obverse might have driven the "cleaned" comment. I don't see it, but I'm not the best judge of such things on heavily-circulated coins such as this one.
