Went to the grade school I attended 1956-63, hunted the play ground area, minus any equipment, as the school was removed a few years back. Found a 1989 P dime, and some trash, and 2 pipe that were cut off below grade, most likely from the slipper slide.
Went to a vacant lot across town, hunted the parking area, found my first wheat back penny, a 1946. Then a spill of sorts, wife says they look like the pommels, the end of a kitchen knife. They could be they are curved on the top have a ridge on the other end and some have dimple for adhesive? The sides are like a wood grain. Two are the same size one larger one and a smaller one plus a thin disk. they could be aluminum or sterling. Any ideas.

Hunted the school again, this time the area where the football field bleachers were removed recently. Found one quarter and a nickel. Went to the parking on the lot behind a local church yesterday and found a pair of 8" pliers and 3" pliers, plus 1 quarter and a nickel and 5 memorials. Next time I will move east to the next lot, as the house is now vacant. Where is that silver? This area is across the street from the county court house where they have been having a bean feed over 143 years, and folks eat on the grounds or on the parking areas nearby. Back to the grade school they had mowed the lawn on the front and north side. This area had two houses demolished back in the early '70's, and became part of the school lawn. Found lots of can slaw, along where the old sidewalk was, so I moved to the area between the walk and road, no curb. Third signal found a 1925 Lincoln, so there should be silver in the same area. Will return Sunday afternoon. Webekin

This really surprises me. Forty years ago I searched under recently-removed bleachers on both sides of our old high school football field (originally built in the 1890s and replaced in the 1930s); over a four-day period, I found over a full bucket of lost coins, using an early White model with hardly any useful discrimination. I would have thought your finds would have been substantially greater.

I expected more also under the bleachers. Hunted the front of the elementry grounds, the parking infront of the 3 houses Sunday evening. Only covered the first lot, 3 hours later, nothing but trash, can slaw, nuts, bolts, washers, and bearings? the kind that are a half a circle for a piston rod on the main? Also found a 2 pound piece of cast iron, and a smaller piece. Next time I'll work from the school side walk to the north toward these vacant lots. Webekin
