Hello all- I have recently been metal detecting quite a bit lately, and figured it's time to get a pinpointer. How does a pinpointer work? How do you use it/tips? Any recommended brands or models of a good pinpointer? Thanks everyone!
First of all don't dig with it like someone here was doing in a video. Place the dirt on a cloth and check the pile for the target by waving the front edge over the pile. The Garret has a ridge for this. It there, use the tip find it. If not check the hole with it. Put more dirt on the pile as needed and repeat. Get a 'Letsch" digging tool to dig with. And use gloves. Poison ivy roots are everywhere.
I have enjoyed my Makro Pin pointer... have had no issues and I beat the tar out of it. Everyone has their favorite. And for every PP brand or make, someone has had a problem with it.
Use your metal detector first to find a signal. dig your hole at the right dept. go over the loose dirt with pin pointer ,if nothing go into hole with pin pointer. you'll catch on fast it's very simple. I have a Garret pro pointer. works great.
