Recently, many countries have issued coins showing Christopher Columbus. Two countries did so in the 19th century.

One was the United States. What was the other?

I was thinking of Costa Rica. This is one of the four denominations of gold, most issued late in the 1800's.

Thanks for playing!

Interesting about the various portraits of Christopher Colombus: NONE of them can be verified as a true likeness of him.

Wow! I had to look that one up!

You are quite right. It IS Columbus, but a totally different (to my eye) portrait of him.

It's just a sel_69l said. No one really knows what he looked like.

Thanks.

Now there are two winners! DCH and Andyg
