O: IMP NERVA CAES AUG GERM P M TR P II Laureate head of Nerva right. R: IMP II COS IIII P P Aequitas, standing left, holding scales and cornucopiae. Nerva assumed consulship for the fourth time on January 1, 98 AD. At some point during the day, after the inaugurations and ceremonies were complete, Nerva suffered a severe stroke during a private meeting. He died several weeks later on January 27, 98 AD.
