Understanding the value of 2019-W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle.
United States 2019-W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle was specifically made for this program, "Pride of Two Nations. "It was chosen to represent the relationship between the two nations. It symbolized power wealth; and strong bonds. Last but not least the first joint coins in the history of the United States Mint with the Canadian Mint. Just a thought.

The USM collaborated several times prior to this, with bullion (ASEs) and circulating coins as well. The ASEs were standard issue proof (specifically with the UK Royal Mint).

Real collaborations include U.S. Mint and The Royal Mint coins and medals to commemorate the Mayflower Anniversary. And the Liberty and Britannia Coin/Medal. The Pride of 2 Nations was a release of coins produced by 2 mints, not a real collaboration. The Leif Ericson Millennium commemorative coin was a silver dollar issued in 2000 by the United States Mint to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Leif Ericson's discovery of the Americas. The coin was minted in cooperation with Iceland, which also issued a commemorative coin.

I was going to post what I thought was at least the first collaboration between the US Mint and The Royal Mint, which was in 1997 and were standard issue coins, a 1997P proof ASE and a 1997 £1 sterling coin, (not even a Britannia). But I see there is some disagreement of what a collaboration is. If the RM puts out a set with a US coin in it, you can assume that the RM and USM somehow collaborated to have the set happen. I don't think the RM would just buy a few thousand ASEs without telling the USM they were going to put them in a set including making up a COA. They may not have collaborated on a design for a single coin, but they worked together to make a set happen. |

Personally speaking the 2019 Pride of Two Nations was a Large disappointment, Purchased Many Sets, U S and RCM.I mean the 2019-S ERP set the stage for that Year and along comes the 2019-W ERP and it is Over-Shadowed, imo. Actually THE 2019-West point examples were released First. I had visions about this Set,  Sure The RCM had issued a Numbered Authenticity Certificate, I thought This Would be a Smart Move, But No.....  The 2019-W was First on the Release, 7-3-2019 Mintage 99,675( final mintage as of 2023 ). The 2019-S ERP was released on November 14th, 2019, Mintage 29,909 ( final mintage not yet audited ). Clearly one can see the mintages are Far from each other, Basically the 2019-W has approx 3 times the 2019-S's mintage. Therefore the San Francisco version- The 2019-S commands more respect , and $$$$$$$$$$$$$, being it has a Much less Mintage out there, .... |

We can argue about what a collaboration is, to me its creating coins specifically for an event hence I would say the Leif Erickson, Mayflower and Britannia/Liberty are true collaborations while the others, the Pride of 2 Nations, the AU packaging of the moon landing are more like a joint venture, we each do our part and then we put them together in a package.
Either way there had to be some contact but not much in terms of a design collaboration.
And while I like the Pride of 2 Nations, it was really over shadowed by the S-ERP. The low mintage, signed certificate and certificate number made the pride of 2 nations almost an afterthought. You can see it in the secondary market prices for each coin.
I'm not trying to dissuade the OP but based on the comments, no one other than the OP is calling the 2019 W ERP a king or queen.
Morgan's dad nails it, put up an S-ERP and people are wow. If you have 2 double wow. You have 2 W-ERP, there isn't as much wow factor.

Lets not forget, that there was no new design for 2019 S enhanced reverse proof; it came from 2019 W enhanced reverse proof. There was no special program for the 2019 S-enhanced reverse-proof silver eagle. The only value that the 2019 S reverse-proof silver eagle holds is the low mintage status. And the only difference is the mint mark "S". I think this is the right wording for this. "Pride Of Two Nations" limited coin Two-Coin Set" is the first-ever- joint coin set between the United States Mint and Royal Canadian Mint" The bullion 2019 W silver eagle cannot be incorporated with sets. The S-erp came in a special package Numbered COA Signed SOA The W-erp is a nice coin, but I doubt any ASE collector will call it more than a nice coin. It's clearly shown in the market price for each of the coins.

Let's compare 2 like coins. The 1909 VDB And the 1909 S-VDB Ask any Lincoln Cent collector which one they would rather have? One is the king of Lincoln cents the other isn't. Edited by hfjacinto

In your sense, which I can completely understand, there are design collaborations where designers from each mint work on a design together. Possibly one mint designs a side, the other mint designs the other. A design collaboration I guess you'd call it. The other, the type I'm talking about, is collaborating on a set, where each mint supplies a coin and they are put in a set. The the Pride of Two Nations set, that's what was done, although both coins were special coins. The other unusual factor is both mints sold the set with the exact same coins, only the OGP differed and the Canadian version was much more limited. The difference to me is that I'm an ASE collector and if it's not a set with an ASE, I'm not really interested.

@hfjacinto, maybe Elon M. can help you  . I think it depends on the collector's choices. Low mintage status isn't enough to convince them to be the king; or vice versa. There is no argument, and we are not arguing. We are all numismatists we are just trying to understand numismatics, rather than just low mintage value. Edited by Dough101

Some people collect coins, Some become coin collectors, Some coin collector's become Numismatists, Some sooner than Others..... My advice to Any New to the hobby coin collectors, Get a Library, Learn Everything you can, Listen to those who You believe Know, You'll be fine....  I have been Blessed with a coin collecting passion that has been ongoing for over 50 years, I do not recall using or thinking about using the term Numismatist, Till well into 40 years........ Yeah... so I have 3 Po2N sets, and only one 2019 ERP S ASE. Definitely leaning towards the latter as being "king", but of course everyone raises good points. And, again, at the end of the day, it's collect what you like and how you like. There is no right or wrong in this hobby. |
