Pretty sad. In article he's going to beef up entry door, but in pic it looks like the window is still an easy access. I wonder if he had cameras, door sensors.
Anyone who has a substantial coin collection/bullion at home I encourage you to have a good safe and security cams. And DO NOT tell people you have them at home, only your immediate family. Home security cameras are very popular and not expensive to have a few. Even if you don't have high dollar valuables at home, security cams are a good idea in my opinion. When away from home they can send you phone notifications of detected movement outside or inside your home.
Some keep their collections in bank boxes. Others don't fearing bank failure or government confiscation. In my state contents of safety boxes always belong to the owner or heirs, banks have no claim to contents.
Nothing is 100% safe, you reduce the risks.
I have several cameras guarding my garage doors, front/back doors recording to an NVR. Here is pic of front door cam. Thankfully there's only been a few car break ins and porch pirates in my neighborhood, none at my house so far.
