Time for a reboot of this thread as I've got a new object to share. One side is featureless, but the other has some interesting stepped heights plus a channel out to the edge. Around the rim are a sideways N, 10, and P3. As you can see, there is also a central through hole.

Good guess @hon, but sorry it isn't a lock washer. I'll wait another day or two (or guess or two, whichever comes first before the reveal). One hint: it looks cast to me.

No, I don't think it is a casting channel, but for sure there was something in there when this was in use.

New hint: the overall size of this piece is pretty big though: 16 mm thick and about 77 mm in diameter.

Here is the reveal: it is a lamp weight. looks like they come in a variety of sizes and shapes:

Very interesting, Spence! Thank you for the link. I have an antique floor lamp with Tiffany-style stained glass shade that would greatly benefit from one of those weights. I got it cheap as it's screwed to a piece of wood on casters and too top-heavy to stand safely on its own.
