Numismatic Crime Information Center - Investigators with the Fort Worth, Texas Police Department are requesting assistance in locating a victim of a possible theft or residential burglary that involved the loss of a large collection of coins. Officers were dispatched to a residential area and arrested two suspects. The coins were located upon inventory of their vehicle. Both suspects show to be from the Fort Worth area but may have traveled to surrounding states.

The coins included a partial set of Bust half dollars, type coins, gold coins, silver bullion and several slabbed coins.

I hope that the police can reunite these coins with their rightful owner.

Glad the perps were apprehended and hope the entire collection is recovered.

It really is unfortunate that we spend hours, days, weeks, or more collecting and maintaining our collections, yet it is a bad idea to share / show off said collections with any but our closest friends and relatives. And even doing that is a risk.

If some coins were slabbed can't they check with PCGS or NGC to see who had them slabbed or to see if they were in anyone's registry set.

I don't have a registry set but even my $4 State Quarters are logged in my free PCGS personal registry.
