regarding the 'sets pricing' I want to elaborate. Yesterday I had seen a post from the mint on Facebook to 'check out new LOWER prices'. It would be nice, but as of this posting I can not seem to find that original post. Nor, are any of the prices on mint.ca changed in any way.

@Dcadon: Thanks for taking the time to post the October release info.

IMO, the Mint has done a nice job with its Remembrance Day coins the past few years. Selective colouring within an engraved design vs. painting over a flat field. Even though I'm not generally a fan of colourized coins, I've found this series attractive.

@Dcadon, thank you for sharing

The "lost designs" series imo looks great. But unlike my 5-10 years ago opinion, they should be as closer as possible to original size. Large canvas is good , but not for this simple design. It will make coins more affordable as well.

I agree completely! Show the designs in the size they would have actually appeared if adopted for Canada's coinage - not in some over-sized format!

Yesterday I had seen a post from the mint on Facebook to 'check out new LOWER prices'.

I bought the 3 "Treasured Silver Maple Leaf" bullion coins way back in February. I paid $59.95 for each. So much for the "lower prices"
They're calling these "NEW" on the Mint's web page, but everything looks the same as it was in February - am I missing something?
Has the price of silver jumped that much in 8 months?

In February, the spot price of one troy ounce of silver was ~$22.50 (USD) or ~$30.50 (CAD).

The current (October 2024) spot price of one troy ounce of silver is ~$31.50 (USD) or ~$42.75 (CAD).

So, "Yes" the spot price of silver has seen a significant increase since February.

It's also important to remember that the Mint needs to consider replacement costs in its issue price calculations, not just the price it paid for the silver it has in its inventory.

Note: Bullion prices fluctuate daily. I used conservative (i.e., lower-end) estimates above.

Can't argue with that - business is business. This must apply to their bullion products only, since none of the Mint's current silver products have seen any price increases over this year.

Does that mean that if the price of silver tanks in the future (highly unlikely) that the price of their "premium bullion" coins will drop also ?

MY BAD!

I finally looked to the brochure

Quote:
Pages 16 & 17
repeating the 'special bullion packaging'
Gold 1/10 is $459.95
Silver 1oz is $69.95

These are the 2025 Premium Bullion, not the 2024 as I thought from the post.

However, the original thought still stands
2024 Premium Bullion, issued in Feb 2024 - $59.95
2024 Premium Bullion, current mint price - $69.95
2025 Premium Bullion, issued Oct 2024 - $69.95

The Majestic Polar Bears Premium Bullion has also had a price increase
2024 Majestic Polar Bears Premium Bullion, as of April 2024 - $69.95
2024 Majestic Polar Bears Premium Bullion, current Mint price - $79.95

So it would seem that the Mint adjusts the price of their "Premium Bullion" products according to the spot price as it goes over a certain limit.

Received this coin a few days ago. One of the few RCM coins to sell out and rise above issue price this year.
