I received my gift yesterday from a Secret Santa residing in Lake Charles, LA. During my younger years I drove through Lake Charles every two weeks in order to crew change out of Grand Isle, LA.

It was a very thoughtful gift, one that has a delightful element that will be great fun to explore. Photo:

Shown are:
1973-S Proof Jefferson
1957 Proof Jefferson with lovely toning
1963 British Penny MSRD
1964 US Mint UNC LMC
2023 American Innovation $1; Louisiana Higgins Boat (obviously from Santa's home State)
1880 Lord Calvert medal (from my home State, more to come on that)
5 rolls Jefferson nickels

Here is what Santa told me about the nickels:

"You may not be searching nickels any longer, but you can make better use of them than me. These were collected from circulation by my grandparents (and a few by my parents). They learned during the depression to save every coin they could. When my father passed away in xxxx we rolled up the nickels from a large container of coins. Trust me, they have not been searched."

What great fun it will be to go through 5 rolls of truly unsearched nickels from a generation (or two) ago!

I plan to go through them over the holidays, and will post the results in the Coin Roll Hunting forum. I'm really looking forward to seeing what treasures may be lurking in there. Perhaps maybe even an upgrade or two for my CRH found Jefferson set!

The Lord Calvert medal is intriguing. I found the following description about it:

Description: A 1880 bronze commemorative medal. This 31 millimeter medal comes with a loop on top for hanging. The obverse of the medal has the image of George Calvert with the legend "*GEORGE CALVERT*THE FIRST LORD OF BALTIMORE*" along the edge of the medal surrounding the image. The reverse shows the image of the Battle Monument in downtown Baltimore flanked by the dates 1730 1880 OCT. 11 and is surrounded by the legend "*150 ANNIVERSERY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE CITY OF BALTIMORE" along the edge. The medal has a plain edge, measures 31mm and weighs 14 grams.

Thank you Santa for a delightful and thoughtful gift!

My package was supposed to reach the recipient last Friday. However, I still see them on the list so I hope there were no issues.

Unfortunately, my parcel was rejected at customs. I will still try to send a new one, but it will take time. The recipient will probably receive my gift after the New Year.
