I don't really collect art medals, but I put in a low-ball bid in an auction and won these nice examples. They are all from the Society of Medalists series which ran from 1930 to 1995.

This 76mm medal was made to commemorate Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The obverse shows his design for the Columbian Exposition award medal. The reverse shows his studio / home in New Hampshire below the double eagle gold coin he designed for the U.S.

I will be in New York City next month. Are there any coin shops or displays people recommend?

I read there is a small display at the ANS and there are coins at the MET (on long-term loan from the ANS).

A mystery package arrived today. My Secret Santa obviously saw my want list, which has a number of recent U.S. coins. These are all going in my albums. Thanks a lot!

There are lots to choose from in the US. FUN in Orlando is happening right now. It's the biggest. There is also a summer FUN in July. It's not as big, but still very big compared to Canadian standards.
There's also the National Money Show (Atlanta end of Feb) and World's Fair of Money (Oklahoma City in Aug) that are put on by the ANA. There are various other presentations and activities at these shows, if that is of interest. The WFoM is larger.
Also a number of large regional shows such as Central States (Schaumburg, IL in Apr) and PAN (Monroeville, PA in May). Plus others.

Last year I traveled 3 hours by plane to the FUN show in Orlando FL, 5 hours by car to the RCNA Convention in Boucherville QC, and 8 hours by car for the ANA World's Fair of Money in Chicago IL.

I tend to not drive more than 45 minutes to shows around my area.

You got more in melt than what you paid, so I call it a win. I wouldn't spend your time and money on acetone dip unless you planned to keep the coins for your collection.

Skippy that's a nice assortment. I especially like the mini coins. I have the modern series' versions.

Very happy they made that choice. I had not heard of any of the others before.

I've been meaning to put the medal in Numista. I'll get around to it eventually, unless someone else beats me!

My package was supposed to reach the recipient last Friday. However, I still see them on the list so I hope there were no issues.

I keep track of everything on spreadsheets with market values. I use purchase values for some items that rarely come up for sale. I then take a very rough estimate and discount the total by 40% to come up with an overall value. Probably some items will sell for close to or above the assigned value and other more common items will sell for 50% or less of market value, especially if I or my estate are in a rush to sell. I maintain a separate document for my family if something were to happen to me. It outlines what items are the most valuable (don't just take them to the bank!!), what items can be spent or sold for melt and what items I would like them to keep for future generations.

I'm curious, how many copper and silver have been sold to date?
