I see tremendous damage to this coin but I am not sure if it is PMD as I see some lamination errors as well- I think. Please - set me straight.

I see you are having trouble recognizing PMD. The first thing to learn is, if you have a coin that has a scratch, gouge, hit, or any other mark on it that also has a corresponding buildup of metal above the surface, 99% of the time it's damage. If you learn how a coin is minted, you will find that that is not posable.

Possible heat damage as well. I'm thinking this coin met up with a M3 Halftrack, in a motor pool sometime out west in early '43.
