Fresh Find, the 1918 D over 17 and the 1937 D 3 legged Buffalo nickels are what set the value for this collection. Examine them closely to verify their authenticity and grade then look up past sales to get an idea of their value. The rest seem to be fairly ordinary circulated coins without great value.

If there's a 1937-D 3 leg Buffalo or 1909-S VDB Wheat in the pile, than maybe $1000 is justified. From your pictures I don't see any key dates and would take a pass. If they are willing to accept $100, than maybe it's worth it.

I doubt the 18/7 & 3 legged are there, but I'm hoping I get proven wrong.
If those aren't the real deal, this collection isn't remotely close to $1000.

IMHO it would be hard to judge this collection's worth without having it in hand, and checking for the specific coins mentioned above and knowing that they are legit. Otherwise could be an expensive mistake.

There are coins in the holes for those two, but they would require close examination. It appears that they are in a Library of Coins album, so the reverse could be shown. The 18/17 would need examination with a loupe.

The collection is not worth anywhere near $1000. The Bison nickels are mostly common, I highly doubt that you have any that are worth alot. Just based on what my dealer pays, the full date Bison nickels are worth 50 cents each, the Indian Head cents are worth 25 cents for any from 1909 (not S) to 1880. The other dates are worth more. Looking at the pictures some of the IHC are cleaned (harshly at that) and enviromental damage, so doubtful they even want them. Wheaties are worth 3 cents in circulated condition. The 1909 to 1930 are worth more if S mint and are better than circulated. Also a few semi keys, but based on what I see, I don't believe you have any semi keys. This would be a HARD pass for me. Just nothing that even merits pursuing. I highly doubt you have the 2 key bison nickels, but if you do then still not worth $1000.

based on that sampling, even $100 might be too much
that would change if a key date coin is hiding within, something that can't be determined from group photos, or if there are hundreds more pre-1933 coins than you have shown us
odds alone say this group has no particularly valuable key dates

From what I can see, $100 is too much.

Really, $1000 for that lot of well worn common coins. Hard pass for me. Stay away.

Sounds to me like they're just trying to get someone to take it off their hands and want to make a little money in doing so.
I'd offer them 50 bucks for the lot and leave it at that. That is, of course, if you really want these coins for yourself. As others have pointed out, there's nothing here of value (unless the rare Buffalos are really that). So you wouldn't be making any money, either, if you wanted to try and turn around and sell it yourself.
