I recently acquired this New Zealand 1958 Penny. I think it is stunning in it color. It is maybe a F/VF but that is ok.

I worry that the coloring might be artificial.

Doesn't look natural, especially for a circulated coin.

I'm 90% sure of it,has the 'liver of sulphur' look to it.

I'm not really into a lot of foreign coins but this does have a certain eye appeal. I rather like it!

I like it, it's a little mottled but the effect is very nice.
I have a few old aussie pennies that have toned similar from being stored in an old cardboard album.

I wonder how that toning would stand up to either a distilled water or acetone rinse?

I'd say it would have no effect. I think I heard that baking soda and lemon juice will strip off toning.

I believe this is AT'd - perhaps with heat or chemicals.
