So have noodled about $4k of $2 coins in the last 2 weeks. Location Brisbane. An interesting observation is the number of honey bee coins I found. Exactly zero. Still lots of peace keepers though.
6 months ago I was easily finding one bee every few rolls. I know I have kept a few but where have they all gone?

Most likely they have all been bee-napped Hoard them while you can because everyone else is hoarding them too.

Maybe like minded collectors were getting 4k bags instead of rolls and hoovering up all the bee coins. Only so many fish in the ocean. I remember getting lots of police $2 coins. Now I rarely if ever see them. I've never got a 2017 Rosemary coin via noodling.

Hmm, there were 60,000 with the C mint mark BU (Uncirculated) in coincard which is the main one to collect. Rolls of 25 coins without a Mintmark were issued and also released into general circulation without a mintmark. 250,000 BU in 10,000 mint rolls and 2,000,000 in circulation.... I really like the design of that one, and others must agree to no longer be finding them even in circulation with 2 million out there. I can understand the 10,000 rolls of 25 being horded as they are uncirculated. We had quarters with 2 million in the USA a few years back that you rarely will find in circulation anymore, but its a bigger area and they are known by collectors to search and keep. I also liked the 2021 cameroon 1000 francs always-bee-yourself mint of poland 1oz-silver.

@datadragon - I must admit, I like all bee coins as I have a soft spot for bees. Also, a lot of Aussies think coloured coins are uber valuable and will pay off their mortgage or HECS debt. As soon as they see a coloured $2 coin they stash it away like a squirrel. Quite funny actually.

I haven't seen any of the "circulation" Bee coins in circulation. I had to buy mine from another local collector.

Quite funny actually. Yes,they are being hoarded but the Mint doesn't care, too busy preparing the next coloured money maker or how to get 3 times melt for Silver Coins. People did the same hoarding during the WW11,thought a Jap Invasion was imminent so cashed in Notes at every opportunity for Copper or Silver Coins. Although covered up by the Govt. for nearly 30 years there were major Coin shortages especially in Sydney,Brisbane & North Qld.

I confess that I collect $2 colored coins as well. But only from pocket change. I also collect all commemoratives of all other denominations. Also from pocket change only. Even so, the RAM has made quite some profit from me. Haven't seen the bee yet, - still looking. I hope the Verroa mite doesn't get ME !

@triggersmob Very nice examples I think these have been mostly posted in the post your... section of the forums, (post your coins depicting insects) http://goccf.com/t/331423@David Graham yes. here it mentions each release, like the last, was all but hoarded out of circulation. This made it increasingly difficult for new collectors to come across these coins in their change since 2012 and probably therefore pushed up some secondhand pricing due to more demand than supply at times. https://www.downies.com/news/collec...ollar-coins/
