NGC Indian Head cent, 6286808-009, 1873 MS-62, value $450, disappeared from Registered Mail between Norfolk Va. and Hampton, Va. in mid August. If anyone sees it for sale anywhere, please notify me and/or Jack Beymer Coins.
Thanks!

What's the story here, didn't you cover yourself with insurance?

Unfortunately, USPS insurance is next to worthless.

I hope the item turns up!

Item was insured, both seller and I are made good, still want to find the stolen coin though. Just because it was insured doesn't mean the thief should get to keep it.

That's disturbing that a piece of USPS registered mail got lost. I thought that was by far the safest way to ship valuable coins.

Of course it's not good if the thief gets to keep it.

I am glad that USPS took care of you though.

We will keep our eyes out for it.

Yes it is. Please keep us in the loop, especially if it turns up at some point. I assume you've reached out to local LCSs and pawn shops, right?

This story gets on my nerves.
My sister never received her package, but tracking says 'Delivered', so USPS claims it was delivered so no insurance here.
You got to pick-up your coin in person nowadays.

Believe- No, it's just worth the extra 3 bucks for signature confirmation.

That also can fail. I had a mailman sign the paper that I had received the (rather valuable) package...not once, but twice.

On both occasions I was waiting in my house for the delivery both times. When the mailman never came to the door, I looked out to the mailbox and saw the envelope (too big to fit inside the box) strapped to the mailbox with rubber bands. Thankfully I got it before some local did.

When reported I was sent an apology from the mailman saying something to the effect they were just too lazy to get out of the vehicle to walk across the yard...both times.

Of course the mailman kept his job...government employee!

Well, after a little over 4 months this coin showed up. Post Office delivered it today. Four months to go the last 10 miles. Called the dealer who shipped it and let them know it finally arrived. They had refunded me, and had already been paid out for the insurance, so they told me to keep it.
