Dollar Coin Grading - Previous Post Not Rotated Properly

Farm1942 New Member United States 27 Posts	Posted 12/10/2019 10:16 am I'm trying to learn how to get closer on grading, and my last post had the photos not rotated. So trying again. Someone stated that possibly best grade on this coin was AU58. I'm wanting to learn what made it AU58, and not MS grade........if someone can enlighten me, I'd greatly appreciate the help! Thanks. MS grades are uncirculated, AU grades are VF but right next to MS (uncirculated). The issue is to determine difference between AU58 and the next grade before MS grades. Slider23 Pillar of the Community United States 4376 Posts	Posted 12/10/2019 11:45 am The coin is not showing luster that is typical on a MS coin. The dark area on the breast could be circulation rub. The coin is not showing obvious wear, but given no luster and possible circulation rub AU58 would be a reasonable grade. The coin appears to have been messed with either a cleaning or a dip, so a AU Details grade should also be considered. Report this Post to the Staff

NDBirdman Pillar of the Community United States 744 Posts	Posted 12/10/2019 12:12 pm Need better pics to see how it stands. Taking coin pics, atleast for me is not an easy task. I take my pics with a digital camera, cheapie, and in the sunlight. I'm still trying to figure out lighting that works for me. I might snap 25-30 pics with coin on a grey background, when I'm lucky, I get one good pic of obverse/reverse. From the pics you show, I'm going to say AU details, to me, has that dipped look.
