What date set of a classic coin series did you complete?

What do you consider a complete set? Business strikes and proofs? Business strikes, including all varieties? A year only set (ie, all denominations of a specific year)? A denominational date set? Date and mint set? etc. Because different folks will have different ideas as to what a complete set, is, you'll get a ton of different responses I would think. As for the classics, I have a complete set of large cents from 1810 through 1857, not including varieties. Only missing the 1804 and '09 to be complete from 1795 (I think, there may be another year in there I don't have). I have a complete set of Post Colonial state issued cents, except for NY (considered a pattern by most, as it is incredibly rare). I have a full set of Fugio cents, not including varieties (hint; there is only one 'real' Fugio if you don't include varieties or restrikes). I am 7 away from a complete set of Early Silver Commemoratives. I have a complete set of Franklins (although this forum considers them Modern I believe). And a full set of Washington 25¢ except the '35-S and 38-S, from 1932 through 2008, with all silver proofs from 1955 (I think) through 2008, and that encompasses the State Quarter set as well. I have a full set of War Nickels. And only need the 1873 Trade dollar for a complete business strike date set of those.

As already stated, difficult to reply accurately. For example I have several sets of Liberty Head Nickels but missing the 1913 and very possibly never will get that one. Same with my sets of Liberty Head Dimes. Missing the 94S. When it comes to many other sets, there are so many goofy ones that most people will just never find. I know many have the 1856 Flying Eagle cent but I just never found one although if I did, could possibly be out of reach monitarily. I have 10 completed sets of Mercury dimes and 2 more missing only the 16D.

Complete meaning even those made out of unobtainium, like the 1909SVDB LWC, 1909S/1877 IH, 1916D Mercs, 1912S Liberty"V"? The closet I could come is a complete set of Lincoln Cents, 1909- 2017, missing only 1909SVDB and proofs before 1955. I have all the rest, large/small dates, a lesser variety of 1955/1972 DDOs, a "weak D" in place of 1922 "no D". A complete set would include proofs from the 30's, and actual varieties costing in the $5000 plus range. It is complete as I'm gonna make it. Working on Jeffersons, same way. But am forgetting proof coins in any others, not that interested, if its a completed business strike set, good 'nuff fo'me.

I have a 'date' set of Morgans: for every year from 1878 to 1904 I have just the one coin, which is usually (but not always) the cheapest or commonest mintmark. They are in mixed grades from AG to MS, none are slabbed, and I don't have any extra variety coins such as the 1878 Tail Feathers. I have all three mints for 1921.

I collect by year rather than by series. I have every business strike from 1934-1964 with many of the major varieties.
I also have many full denomination sets back to the 1880's, including gold.
I have the 13 piece gold type set, plus a couple of classics.
I have at least one coin of every date from 1797-1964, including 1815 which is the toughest single year.
I am missing 2 from my classic silver commemorative set.
I am going on too long.

I first built a Morgan dollar Date Set, but found I had duplicates and multiple mintmarks of some date, so I built a full Morgan dollar Set.

Still working on many sets (Mercs, Buffs, LWH) and while I'm far from done with any of them yet, I'm taking the time to enjoy the one or two coins I get a month for them. Other than the 1922 no D (I consider it a mint error so don't include it) I have a complete au set of LWC w/o proofs. That was a fun and satisfying series to start with.

What is odd is no manufacturer has an Album with slots for the Mercury dime proofs. Most now have slots for the 42/41 and 42D/41 but nothing for the proofs. This means even if you have a completed Album of Mercury dimes, it is still not complete. Now with Lincoln cents, so many Albums and Folders have a place for the 55 Doubled and the 22 plain. Yet nothing for so many other Doubled Dies like the 69S. This type of system invented by Album manufacturers makes what is called a completed set meaningless.
