Do Dealers At Coin Shows Take Credit Cards?

Some dealers use Square to take CC. I do not take credit cards, Paypal, or Venmo G&S. There is a documented 1.5% chargeback rate on these things and I will not let someone walk out with thousands of dollars in bullion if they can just go home and dispute the transaction with their bank. I know a dealer that got taken at MSNS by a scammer using Paypal. He walked out with product and the scammer just filed a dispute saying the items were not delivered. Paypal is not designed for in preson transactions and unless you video the transaction on your phone, they will just give him his money back. There is no reason to have to pay a third party for buyer protection for a face to face transaciton, so I assume if you come with that plan in mind, you are a scammer. Bring cash until you are a known entity. After a few months at shows, everyone will take your check. |

Polypropylene won't be dissolved by acetone, but some of the formulation components will leach out like antioxidants and will end up depositing on the coins if you rinse with it. A low boiler like acetone will build pressure if the temperature goes up a few degrees which is why the top keeps popping off. Its flash point is low and its lower explosion limit is about 2% in air, it hugs the ground so is near electrical outlets. You are creating a hazard for yourself by storing it like that. |

I don't blame them. I package my junk silver in sealed $25 FV and $50 FV bags just to avoid these sort of customers. Just because there is no one in the store, that doesn't mean there is no work to be done. You can sell junk silver on Facebook for a tad less than in a store and maybe they would rather be doing that than sitting with you watching you look at dates on $2 Mercury dimes. |

The reality is that below Choice BU, there is always some wear on a coin. Grading is a continuum of wear and marks from MS-65 to P-01. A lot of people have trouble telling the difference between MS-62 and AU-58 and the truth is there isn't much if any in some cases. |

Missing only like 4 or 5 varieties on the sheet, but if I get to the Redbook, I got a bigger job. Looking for unique obverse or reverse dies rather than just different obv/rev die marriages. 1798 Knob 9s is on the list for now as is the narrow date 1802/1, |

You'd be much better off telling me what you want to spend and I send you an estate sale box. I got so much stuff I could do this for months. I'll even write you an email with big flashy letters and a story about my family member that died. |

The PNG code is a good one to live by. I have given a talk on ethics at my coin club There are many subtleties in numismatic ethics that go beyond the PNG code, things that come up all the time. Some examples include:
- If you are at a dealer's table and someone walks up and asks for something, do you say that you know this is available a few tables away for less? - If a person is trying to sell something at a show and is taking offers, can you make an offer as a person walking the floor of the show? - You see a VF-30/35 that you think is undergraded, do you crack it out and sell it as an XF? Should someone else's opinion be more valid than yours? - What about a coin slabbed as cleaned that you think doesn't look so bad. Crack out and cross-over? Crack out and sell raw? - Lots of others |

I had priority mail take 2 weeks to get here. 2 days to get to Detroit, 2 weeks to get out of Detroit. Some distribution centers have not recovered from the pandemic. |

The PVC in the pockets can easily migrate to the 2x2s depending on humidity and temperature. The 2x2s are no where near air tight and PVC is highly mobile and reasonably volatile. |
