Have hunted the city park a few times and wanted to hunt the ball field, today I went 45 minutes south of here to Cherryville KS. Hunted the concession stand area for 1 1/2 hours, then moved to the shade next to the ball field and then returned to the concession stand. Found 2 different coin spills, located both with my Ace 350, but did not dig any plugs. Used my Garrett carrot locate 4 dimes and 4 pennies by the ball field fence, where they sit in lawn chairs. The other spill was close to the bleacher close to the concession stand another 2 dimes and more pennies. Plus other pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters. Hunted 4 hours in the heat. Webekin

Hope you had fun. Clearly it is not the best way to make money -- but -- it's the thrill of the hunt.

Returned with my new AT Pro, did well in areas I had not hunted with the Ace 350. Found 6 quarters, 1 nickel, 9 dimes, and 26 pennnies. One spill had 2 dimes 1 nickel and 5 pennies. Another had 2 quarters within an inch of each other. About 4 hours searching, had a lot of fun. Webekin

Nice! I have done but a little metal detecting in my day and agree waiting for that next beep is a lot of fun. Its not primarily about the take-home, its about the mystery and the hunt. Now that I cannot get out like this anymore, I admit I sometimes like to watch Deep Digger Dan on youtube. At first I was annoyed by his mannerisms, but his ridiculousness (as perceived by me... being from n entirely different culture) grew on me I guess

Another trip to the honey hole, hunted around the ballfields where folks sit in lawn chairs. No spills today but did find plentyof clad, 10 quarters, 14 dimes, 19 pennies. So $4.09 for the 4 hour hunt, new best hourly average. Wanted 1 more quarter or dime before qiting for the day, had a 84 signal, quarters are normally 85, what did I get a token, No Cash Value, so I searches and got a 80 and found a dime, normally a 81, it was on top of the last years dead grass. Called it a day, knowing I had over $4.00. Trying to research the token, has a cartoon looking character on the face, he is wearing pointed shoes, looks to be a duck maybe, and has his arms folded in front. Ok, it is Sonic Hedgehog token. I noticed someone hunting the outfield of a little league field this week... Seemed like a weird place to be MD. Would there be any reason other than lost keys or ring? I can't see kids dropping their lunch money during baseball practice.. Not really an old field either, pretty new and well maintained

CLS12: When the adults play/use the field they can and do lose class rings other jewelry. Co-ed games play in their own clothes, so they could lose anything they have in their pockets. Here they enjoy adult beverages when they play. Webekin

Never under estimate the newer-looking ball fields. I recall digging Two Cent Pieces, seated libertys, Barbers, Indian cents and more, from sites I thought were modern. Some coins are brought in with old fill dirt. Perhaps a modern looking ball diamond sits on a site that may have been used for 100+ years or more. I have one nearby that was also the spot a traveling circus stopped at each year, beginning in the early 20th century. Anything's possible.

Hunted 2 more baseball fields Today, there is another concession stand and found a quarter on the surface there,7 quarters, 14 dimes, 22 pennies, and a very nice 1945 P wheatie, found in the same hole as a dime, only 2" deeper. Also a Tulsa Zoo Wild dogs penny, from Penny Collectors. Temp 68, light wind, perfect afternoon. Webekin

Return trip today, but first a short hunt in Independence KS around 2 ball fields, 2 quarters and 3 dimes. Back at Cherryville, found a skeleton key, 2 quarters, 10 pennies, and 8 more dimes. Also found a bracelet, leather with a nylon core for stretch plus magnetic closure. The ends w/ magnets could be silver,or not might be aluminum, and in the middle is a cylinder that came out of the ground shinny but dirty with squibibles all around it, in engaved and painted black. It is hollowed out on the back and has a Hallmark that is in distinguishable. Yet part of the HM looks to be gold, could have a 3 pieces HM with leaves or wheat on the sides. Webekin
