Hello,
Just had this 1889 o Morgan conserved and graded and I realised that its some kind of clashed VAM. It doesn't seem to be the Vam1A or Vam20A so some help with identification would be great!
I would have put variety attribution when grading but it was so covered in PVC it was bright green with such a THICK layer of sludge that I couldn't even see the big clash mark to the right of the eagles wing.
NGC 62 btw

Thanks for looking

Thanks &

P.S. there is some funny business going on with the denticles below the date, they look kind of doubled and off-set but not too sure

Looks like the date is slanted, maybe a later die state of VAM-20 with more clashing and the E worn/polished away?

I believe it's a VAM-11.

Good call Zurie, I agree that it appears to be VAM-11.

Vam11 is now listed as VAM 14. Your date looks very much like the wide date VAM 14. Take a look at the hair above the 2 right stars for the die markers. The VAM 14 makes no mention of die clashes though so I'm not too sure. This really looks like a VAM 20B but the date and mint mark don't match.

Looks like a VAM 14, all the markers but mine are quite a bit stronger than on the photos on Heritage

I think you guys have called it with VAM-11/14. Your example does look to have stronger clashing, maybe a slightly earlier stage. It just looks like mostly damage but could you get a nice clear closeup of the area I have circled? It would be cool if there was an E hiding ing there, where yours may possibly be an earlier stage.

The pickups on the VAM-11 example look much stronger than the VAM-14 examples, and your example is stronger than both. With such strong clashes I'm a bit surprised they lumped the VAMs together. Seems like a pretty PCGS thing to do.

Thanks for the help everyone &

I've looked at that section under every light and angle and there is just nothing there unfortunately. May be so faint that the grainy surface texture just hides it.
effectively no E :(
