Before Tremesis, shown in the last post, arrived, I would like to introduce the collections I have collected. In the first introduction, I would like to introduce my favorite item, nero dupondius.

Front design: Nero wearing a laurel wreath

NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GER PM TR P IMP PP

NERO CLAUDius CAESar AUGustus GERmanicus Pontifex Maxinus TRibunicia Postetas IMPerator Pater Partiae

Nero Claudius, Caesar, emperor (Augustus), victor
over the Germans, high priest, tribunician power,
supreme commander (Imperator), father of the
country

(Translation source: Numista )

This is Nero Dupondius, which has been discolored black. Unlike the typical Dupondius, it is depicted wearing a laurel wreath and It has been preserved so well that every detail, especially the curls of the hair, remain intact.

In particular, the details of its eyes are so delicate that even the pupils, eyelids, and eyebrows have been preserved. It is a pity that the photo size is limited to 300KB, so it cannot be shown in detail.

Reverse design: Victoria holding a laurel wreath and palm

VICTORIA AVGVSTI SC

Victori of the emperor(Augustus),Decree of the senate

(Translation source: Numista)

Sadly, some of the inscriptions on the back have been erased and there are some cracks and corrosion. Still, it is in good condition.

This concludes the introduction. Thank you to everyone who watched and I would appreciate it if you could leave a comment in the reply.

A well preserved dupondius with many details intact. The high relief of these coins often leave the highest points much more worn down than on your example. A nice acquisition!

Large, impressively realistic portrait of this (in)famous emperor. Fleshy and highly detailed. Your favoritism is easily understood, noobs!

Here is my Nero. Far more mushy than yours, noob. Rugged and worn...but appreciated nonetheless! Kind of interesting that the highest point on both of these portraits seems to be the man's prominent ears. Very similar wear patterns.

Nero as "Genius of the Romans" (of course!) Obverse: the Emperor facing left, IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR P PP; small globe at the point of his neck. Reverse: Genius standing left, right hand holding a patera over a flaming altar, while holding a cornucopia in the left. GENIO AVGUVSTI, SC in field. 29mm, 10.54 grams.
