Hello everyone, I am hoping all of you eagle eye experts out there can help me to identify this doubling on my 1969 S penny. To me it looks like authentic die doubling but it doesn't match what most of the pictures online look like so I am worried that my own hopeful bias is hindering my vision. Is it possible that there is another undiscovered variant of DDO on this penny? I am fully prepared to be told it is just Machine Doubling like I have seen on so many other posts but here are some pictures and I'd love to hear your thoughts. The zoomed in ones are on a crappy microscope and it is also going through the plastic packaging.

If you're asking if it's DDO-001, the answer is absolutely not. 1969-S DDO-001 is one of the most major doubled dies in the entire Lincoln Cent series, and should be plainly visible in hand without the need for magnification. If you're asking if it's a more minor doubled die, the answer is still no, it's just glare from your light source.

SteveGraves,

It is not the famous one or a doubled die at all IMHO. It looks like MD going with the pics you posted. Please in future posts do not take photos of your scopes screen, the quality is not good enough. Also, you will need to filter your light source to cut down on glare.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, I don't have very sophisticated equipment. Thank you for the feedback though, I figured after looking around and not seeing any other 1969 pennies with the same defect that it was probably just MD. The only reason I was thinking it might not be is because of the distinct lines between some of the letters and their double.
