Hi,
does anyone have any recommendations for a reference book about coins of Imperial Russia/Soviet Union? I can't seem to find any.

How bout any world silver books?
I know Swamperbob said some about this (Below) 11 or so years ago
I have also found that the University of Michigan reprint series is also reproducing some very rare early numismatic books. I just purchased Eckfeldt and DuBois book "New Varieties of Gold and Silver Coins, Counterfeit Coins, and Bullion; with Mint Values" originally published in 1851. It focuses mainly on gold but provides some data on the prevalence of silver forgeries as well. The authors are dismissive of the silver forgeries calling the eagles "awkward" and the Liberty heads "laughable", but they provide a clue to the existence of another book that provided details on ranges of weights and alloys of foreign silver.

can't believe it, but apparently nothing in this thread about books about Japanese numismatics.

I am looking for the handbook "Catalogus van de Nederlandse munten : geslagen sinds het aantreden van Philips II tot aan het einde van de Bataafse Republiek (1555-1806)" 2009, ISBN 9789066220065. I have a hard time locating a copy.

Wow I guess I should post something cool here, (now I posted this earlier but still...) This is a scarce early book on Morgan dollars by F.X.Klaes published in 1963. I got this from my uncle earlier this year who does not collect coins. He got a bunch of coin books from one of his collecting friends who passed away several years ago who had a large coin collection, and my uncle managed to get all the coin literature, in which he gave them all to me. It is amazing that one still has the original price guide as a loose page included.

My collection of Davenport Taler and Crown volumes is expanding. I now have: "German Church and City Talers 1600-1700", Second edition, black silver-stamped covers, 1975. "German Talers, 1700-1800", red silver-stamped covers, 1965. "German Talers since 1800", gray pebbled covers, black imprint, 1949. "European Crowns, 1700-1800", deep red, silver-stamped covers, 1961. "European Crowns, since 1800", purple pebbled silver-stamped covers, 1947. I am still looking for "European Crowns, 1600-1700".

I also got "The Silver Ducat" by Margo Bos (Royal Dutch Mint). Thirty two pages of history, background information, description of types, and mintages of silver ducats minted in the United Provinces. http://goccf.com/t/416863
