I just received this set in the mail and the Loonie is a 2015 version. Should I keep it or return it? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

That's pretty neat. I wouldn't return it.

There's not too many sets that I would hesitate to cut out. This one I would keep intact and consider it a rarity.

It probably go for a very high premium on ebay. a person could start the auction at 13% higher, so there is no loss from fees. It is a great keeper too. I am sure you will get many opinions. Congrats on a nice rarity.

Hang on to it! Even if you're tempted to sell it wait until you can find out how rare it is. If you list it now just to cover your fees, you'll be giving it away because the collection community is not aware of it. I'm still awaiting my order, said to arrive on the 18th. Now my courisity meter is ticking! It's possible there was confusion over the security stamp or not on the loonie. But for RCM to package their 2016 sets with a loonie that's a year old, that's just totally bizarre. Can I ask, did you order it from RCM directly or from a supplied dealer?

I received shipping notice for mine yesterday, fingers crossed that I get one too. Anyone else already have one with a 2016 loonie?
Does it show 2016 on the other side?

I definitely will not be returning this to the RCM. I am waiting for a response from the RCM on how to get a set with the correctly dated coins. Any ideas on what this would be worth. The item cost 24.95cdn + tax from the RCM.

It's worth more than you paid that's for sure..... Where was quality control?

Here is a picture of the other side of the coins. The Loonie appears to be a standard 2015.

You will likely need to wait a bit so population can determine value. If 10k sets have 2015 coin, probably worth $25, if only a handful, you will have some kind of premium.

It's a keeper for sure. I almost want to go to the Post Office and see what they have before too many flippers scoop them all up.

What the intact set might be worth is always based on the principle of supply and demand. How many were produced with a 2015 loonie and how many collectors are interested in owning one, and at what price at any given point in time. Given that anomalies, errors and oddities are unusual, they hold great collector appeal (and value).
Of interest, the stated mintage is 60,000.

I am usually not a big fan of modern coins , but neat find. Hopefully it ends up being unique. Good going!

Congratulations Dr Jackle! I just returned from the CP outlet at the local Shoppers Drug Mart where yesterday I noticed 2016 Uncirc Sets on display. I only looked inside one which I bought, what the heck, but indeed it was a 2016 loonie, security stamp and all. i wonder if it's possible that RCM employees neglected to completely empty the Loonie Bin and it still contained a limited number of 2015 when 2016 production of the Uncirculated Sets began?

I have a 1999 US uncirculated set with two Georgia quarters and no Pennsylvania quarter. I posted a while back and one seems to know if it's worth much of anything. It is interesting though.
