I picked this one up over the weekend at a local show. I don't think the toning shows up in these photos as well as it does in hand. I'm not really a Morgan dude but I couldn't pass this one up! Thoughts on grade?
OK, the 1908-S is arriving next week, and I will only be TWO coins short in completing my Indian Head Cent set! I've been working on it off and on for 20 years now, so I'll be pretty excited to get it done. Unfortunately the two I am lacking are the rarest of the series: 1909-S and, of course, the 1877.
I currently have them in a Dansco album, but my question is this: should I transfer them to 2x2 holders and put them in a binder instead? I feel like they'll be preserved better, and maybe they can be examined more easily. These coins are so dark they're sometime tough to see that well, and I wonder if the dark Dansco background probably doesn't help. What are everyone else thoughts on that?
You guys that guessed 64 nailed it! Wow, for some reason I thought it was less than that. I guess the fingerprint(?) and some of those scratches threw me. I dunno. Those may be on the holder, though. That's the problem with buying slabbed stuff online sometimes.
That's really cool! Please keep us updated whenever you flip that one. That's nicer than the one in my IHC collection! I think I need to upgrade my 20th century series.
Yeah, Dave, that's why I really homed in on this one. I wanted to get a nice example from the Nawlins mint and many of the ones I have come across have a sort of weak strike. I guess that mint is known for weak strikes more than anything?
So my wife got me one of those microscope lenses that you attach to an iPhone. It's rated at 60x power. I was a little "iffy" about what the quality may look like, but I was actually surprised at the outcome. Judge for yourself!
The ones that really crack me up are the people that say something like, "I just don't have the time to search through all these rolls." That's just stupid! If it was legit you would MAKE the time!
