For those seeking to migrate to the American West in the 1800s, "ground transportation" often meant travel by Conestoga covered wagon. The 1926-39 Oregon Trail Memorial Half Dollar features just such a conveyance - a Conestoga covered wagon being pulled by oxen.

St. Malo (France) Societes des Tramways Bretons 10 Centimes 1921. Steam locomotives powered the trams until the lines were electrified in 1927.

German 5 Marks from 1984 commemorating the 150th anniversary of the German Customs Union. The reverse shows a horse-drawn carriage going through a border post:
