So there is a new series announced in the April Release... It commemorates the "W" mint mark and I assume before all is said and done, all other coins that wore a "W" will be released. I don't know if this series is limited to 2023 or whether it will fulfill over a number of years or if being to type will ultimately include yet another "last chance" penny. The obverse is the 4 pearls QEII design that has been ubiquitous this year.
The first issue in this series is the $2 coin... Struck on the standard silver 1oz planchet of 38mm, it lacks any gold plate so it does not appear bi-metallic though it does appear to have a different level of finish on the outer ring. The reverse design is that of the original $2 and lacks the laser etched security features visible on today's circulating $2.
I don't know why on the 26th anniversary of the Winnipeg Mint Circ Set (1997) or the 27th anniversary of the release of the Toonie (1996) or the 47th anniversary of the Winnipeg Mint opening (1976) that this is the time for this commemoration... I would welcome any comment that provides a rationale.

@vonigohcr: Thanks for the release update.
Nothing of interest for me this time around. I hope everyone can secure the coins they desire!

The mintage on the 50 cent rolls should read 25000, not 2500. High mintages on all items again this month. Special Wrap rolls 5000 last year, 7000 this year. Special Wrap 50 cent, 15000 last year, 25000 this year. For me, the mintages are too high when certified dealers need to go on selling sites to sell their inventory. RCM has gone from selling collectibles to selling products, IMHO.

One of the worst releases in recent memory. I don't understand why they are selling a QEII Coronation 5 oz coin when King Charles Coronation is just a few weeks away. I can't imagine too many will shell out $569 for it.

Given 2023 would have been the 70th anniversary of QEII's coronation maybe this design had already been commissioned and the dies manufactured before she passed last year and the RCM were not about to write off the investment. Who knows...I still don't know why there is a "W" Mint mark commemorative series this year.

Quote: I still don't know why there is a "W" Mint mark commemorative series this year. This could be a possibility. 2003-2006 Mature Portrait-No Crown During the 2003 production run, the obverse was changed to feature a more mature image of Elizabeth, designed by Susanna Blunt and Susan Taylor. That would commemorate a 20 year anniversary. Just a thought.

the six coin one ounce silver series with the "w' mark will be like the 5 ounce big coin series with all the same denominations: toonie, loonie, fifty cents, quarter, dime and nickel and a wooden case sent with the second coin in the series. tis a repeat, I know and ordered it.

So much for the 1oz Silver: St Edwards Crown (Selective Gold Plate + glass stones) 38mm Mintage: 6,000 FV: $20 Cost $159.95 RCM is charging tax on this, TSC is now adding tax. 1oz Silver: #1 in W Tribute - $2Polar Bear Design: 38mm Mintage 7,500, FV $2, RCM Cost $109.95 TSC corrected the price to $109.95 The wraps are still priced much higher on TSC.

I always assume RCM and dealers check this forum frequently. If a post says a coin is priced incorrectly or forgets to charge taxes, they will fix it immediately. Therefore, I'm not sure how broadcasting such info here can benefit the community. It certainly benefits the dealers: they basically outsourced the error-checking job - their job - to the community.
