For me it'd be the original 1794-1795 Flowing hair design. About as ugly as it gets

The modern zombie-looking Jefferson nickel OBV and the 2019 $100.00 gold coin. Poor Miss looks like her brains are being blown out: The word "KABLAM" always comes to mind when I see that one!

Back in '72 I was a student at UC Santa Barbara. Christmas was coming up and I wanted to get my girlfriend something really nice. I decided I would gift her a $20 St. Gaudens gold piece on a rope chain necklace. I put all the components together. Showed it to several friends both male and female. They all agreed it was stunning. About 2 weeks before Christmas girlfriend and I are walking through an outdoor mall in Santa Barbara and there in the window of an upscale jewelry store, along with some other items, is a similar necklace as the necklace I'm getting ready to get her. I coyly point out the necklace in the window and ask her what she thinks of it. She replies, "THAT'S THE UGLIEST PIECE OF JEWELRY I've EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE." I'm crushed. We go back to our dorms. I decide I better bite the bullet and I pull it out and show her. After she stops laughing she says, "Why don't we go back and change it into an engagement ring?" So we did, and almost 50 years later she's still wearing it. So I guess my entry for least desirable coin design is the classic St. Gaudens $20 gold pie that many regard as the most beautiful design of all time which proves that beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. P.S. My wife still thinks it's ugly.
