I never thought to group my general stock certificates by fabric manufacturers, but there was a surprising number. I especially like the vignettes on some of these.

Viscose is the chemical substance used to create rayon.

I'm not sure what Kendall produced, but it appears to be something related to cloth, based on the vignette.

Love the old machinery on these two.

Silk...

Ribbons...

And wool!

Greg, these are fantastic - thank you for sharing!
I really like the winged wheel that the weaver (?) is riding on the Kendall certificate.

The winged wheel represents progress and it shows up on quite a few security engravings. If you look closely you'll find one on the Century Ribbon Mills vignette. Now I'm thinking that might make a good topic!

Here are some companies that made use of this cloth and fiber.

Here is an earlier version of a Crompton & Knowles stock certificate. I actually have a number of these that I'd be happy to offer inexpensively to forum members, but I'm not sure about the rules regarding sales.

In its day, Chadbourn was one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of silk stockings and hosiery. But by the time this bond was issued they were being badly out-competed by foreign companies. The mill eventually closed in the late 1970s.
