Green oxidation on this silver Spanish 5-Peseta 1885 - on cheeks, eyebrow and next. Can I clean this with 100% acetone?

You can,but do not know if it will improve any. Looks like someone has already "cleaned" it.

Side note, the date(if I see it correctly) is 1887-see inside the star right of 1885

Can't hurt, but likely won't help either.

Acetone is safe to use on silver. Is the best thing I found for cleaning silver so far. What you have there is probably PVC gunk. Put the coin in acetone and let it there at least half an hour. Do a second bath if necessary. Wash with a little acetone in the end.

It is worn but cleaned or not it has a history. Worth taking care of.

Thanks all for the reply. I need to find where I can get 100% acetone locally. :)

Yes, this piece is part of my 19th-century Spanish crown-size historical set-up. This piece had been with me for more than 20 years already.

Cheers to all.
