This is a 3 mm thick, 36 mm diameter coin. It has heft to it like the large American Silver Dollars.

Excellent cartwheel, Dearborn! Often these have many rim dings and bruises because dropping them on cobblestones really leaves a mark.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Very nice cartwheel penny! I hope the others you post are as interesting.

If you are interested, yours is the 10 leaf variety. There are also as many as 50 different varieties of the ship on this date!

Thanks Paddy for that leaf count variety. But just to clarify, you are counting the leaves on the branch that Britannia is holding correct? (I have so much to learn on old UK coins)

No - the count is the number of leaves in the wreath on George's head. There are just two varieties - 10 and 11. The 11th leaf appears behind the two lowest leaves.
However, there is a much easier way to tell: The the tip of the ribbon behind George's head points down on the 10 leaf and to the left on the 11 leaf.

Other options from the menu on this website will help you identify varieties of all GB pennies from 1797 to 1970.

Thanks again Paddy! great link! From the ships shown on that page, it looks like mine is the 'Short Mainmast' variety (without seeing the many others you speak of..)
