I found this 1984 $1 mob of roos coin in the latest noodle. It is much shinier than normal. The 2020 $1 mob of roos coin beside It is typical of the most recently released coins I come across and it is nowhere near as shiny. The 1984 coin is not a proof and shows wear and tear typical of circulation. I am just wondering how/why it is so shiny. Could it have been lacquered? I don't think metal polish could produce this effect. Any ideas please?

Easy to determine if it is lacquered or not.
Give it an acetone soak.

Tried acetone on it and yes, lost its shine. Now back in circulation. It did look good before it's bath though.
