1861 Fall River - Warrant? Promissory Note?

What is this? Is it a warrant? A promissory note?





The agent is Thomas James Borden of Fall River, later "Col." Thomas Borden (he was a 1st lieutenant in the 5th unattached Massachusetts Company for 3 months in 1864). His family was quite prominent in Fall River at the time.

Yes, that would be a promissory note. It promises to pay the amount noted, after a designated time period.
