Need Help Identifying Old Bank Note

jdsstrat New Member United States 41 Posts	Posted 02/18/2025 9:42 pm I found this in a box of old notes that I inherited from my grandfather and thought at first that it was some kind of facsimile. Then I took it to a coin shop nearby and the gentleman told me that it wasn't. But that's all that he could tell me. I've had a LOT of luck at this forum with some of the oddball coins I've come across in the collection so I was hoping for more of the same with this note (if that is in fact what it is). Thanks in advance for the collective wisdom I hope can be brought to bear here. Report this Post to the Staff

Root River Mint New Member United States 34 Posts	Posted 02/19/2025 12:32 pm It is close to this note from Maryland but different enough where I think it may be a modern fantasy note. Is it printed on that crinkly, brown paper that the Declaration of Independence copies are printed on? That would indicate a fake. I was an elementary school teacher for 33 years in NYC and used those fake documents you are referring to a lot. This is definitely NOT one of those. And, yes, I would agree, this looks a lot like those documents in your link. This is more like a blank 1-dollar check, though. As if, someone brought one of these into the bank in Emmittsburg and got one of the notes in your link out from the same bank. Or something like that. Would you agree? Report this Post to the Staff
