Anybody know what mint produces these coins? An
E bay vendor said it was a German mint, but gave no more details. The country on the coins is Niue and the new Charles III reverse is featured on the latest (Black Swan).

Though John Gould's initials are featured on the coins, his wife, Elizabeth, did the illustrations and gets recognition in a recent book.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply--looks like Downies had at least 4 different collections of 8 medallions each, besides selling the latest silver coins I was asking about, that you linked to. Looks like the Downies medallion collections are silver plated for the first three collections and gold plated for the 4th collection.

Anyway this confirms that the medallions unlike the Niue coins are silver plated. Although they may all be produced at the same mint:

"The Birds of Australia Commemorative Collection is inspired by the historic illustrations from the father of Australian ornithology John Gould's ground-breaking work The Birds of Australia. Each pure silver-plated, 40mm commemorative features a precisely detailed strike, enhanced with a full-colour image, bringing each unique bird to life."

From here:

"Notes
Finish: proof, coloured.
Packaging: in presentation box, with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Release price: AU$ 185.00.

There is no primary information available about this coin; it seems that the coin was commissioned by Australian company Downies and struck by PAMP."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAMP_(company)

"PAMP also provides custom minting service for private companies and government mints. The company's product range in that field goes from small bars and medals to legal tender coins."

That's my best guess anyway as producer of these coins.
