Darren here. I live outside Yorkton Saskatchewan on an acreage. I have always been interested in old coins and I got into metal detecting about five years ago. I have a Garret Ace 250. I don't get out very often as my life is pretty busy. About 2 months ago I was given permission to detect an old homestead dated about 1911. It is in a wooded area but the owner had a brush cutter on his tractor and cleared what he could. Lots of trash but I did find 1 coin. A 1928 Canada nickel. Spritzer it with water and a little soft brush action and here it is.

Well done
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

It's always nice to unearth a coin, well done.
It's also always nice to get a new permission to detect

We have had a small amount of snow here in the UK. Not enough to stop me detecting, the only thing is we have had several frosts and the first 4 inches of ground has been solid.
