Very nice combinations so far! Napoleon Bonaparte became 1st consul in 1799 but it was not until 1803 that coins in his name were issued. Here is a 40 francs coin from "year 12" according to the French revolutionary calendar, that is, 1803/1804. In December 1804, Napoleon crowned himself emperor of France, but on this coin, he is still "first consul". The 10,000 francs banknote with Napoleon's portrait is from 1956, 153 years later. Interestingly though, the portrait precedes the one on the coin. It is based on an unfinished painting from 1798 by the French painter David.

An even greater time span between coin and banknote for my next contribution: French double tournois from 1603, with portrait of king Henry IV. 5,000 francs banknote from 1958, in remembrance of the former king.

French banknotes portraying kings are rare - which is not strange for a republic. The Henry IV banknote I showed in my previous post is the only modern one (unless counting also the Napoleon banknote from my earlier post, since besides being emperor of France, Napoleon was also king of Italy). The only time banknotes (or rather, treasury notes) portraying the reigning king were issued was 1790-1792, the brief period after the revolution of 1789 during which king Louis XVI remained constitutional monarch, before being deposed in 1792 (and guillotined in 1793). From that time there are also coins with his image. 1792 écu: 1792 50 livres assignat (the term used for these notes, which are uniface):
