Heritage Auctions - Described in its Eliasberg catalog appearance as "possibly the finest known," though in subsequent years several other 1900 proof Morgans have also attained the nearly miraculous grade of PR68 or PR68 Cameo. The devices do show noticeable contrast, and are likely kept from a Cameo designation by the original pastel almond-gold and ice-blue patina found throughout both sides. The surfaces are pristine and the strike is full aside from a mere hint of incompleteness on the hair above the ear. J.M. Clapp obtained the present piece directly from the Mint, thus the pedigree is complete for all of its initial 97 years.
