2006 D Nickel Error Help - Coin Community Forum

Jmburchett New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 06/25/2024 3:33 pm Hello, I can't find any coins or info about this error. I found one but it was the obverse missing and appeared to have a lot of scratches like it had been removed manually. This one you can tell was never stamped and you can still see the grooves of the planchet like a record. Can anyone help? Dearborn Moderator United States 64151 Posts	Posted 06/25/2024 5:18 pm nope, you are correct, this one was not done with a sanger or a grinder, but rather a lathe - you can see the 'lathe-lines' circulating the coin. a fresh planchet will not have these marks. The rim is also missing - it is possible that someone was trying to make a Magicians coin with it. Collecting since 1972. Learning from then on "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember.
