I, too, am surprised it received a "Brown" designation. Looks RB to me.

BH1964 I'm confused by your comment I thought CAC doesn't grade a piece. I thought they confirm the assigned grade and assign a color bean based on how the coin meets that grade. can you enlighten me? I've never used CAC but just want to add it to my knowledge base.

Yes and they're very tough on any type of "friction" on devices. Decades of market grading clearly put this piece at MS. CACG would likely call it AU.

I'm not so sure it is friction as much as the typical 24d weakness of the strike and the planchet when you see it in hand.
